Sam is the exact size of a juvenile gorilla....now we know why he acts the way he does. He's the missing link.
July 5th we went to the Zoo. It was a perfect day, not to hot, not to busy. Sam was free to run around the grounds and explore at will. He was excited to see the baby elephant and the primates. He loved the carousel and was happy to ride it three times. He came out of the small animal and reptile house holding his nose, but smiling. Boy does that place stink! The wolves were right up at the fence when we went down to visit them and Sam said "whose dogs are these?" We laughed and told him that they were wild dogs, but he concluded that they looked like just plain old dogs from the neighborhood. We kind of had to agree with him. He ran up to most friendly looking kids and introduced himself and some obliged him with a hello.
This cougar was so upset that I took it's picture. It kept growling at us and at one point appeared to stalk a girl that was carrying a rolling cart. It was so stressed out and I could see why...the train goes right by him and each time it passes it toots it's horn. Poor thing.
