Sam invited a couple of neighbour friends over to build gingerbread houses and watch
A Muppet's Christmas Carol. Avery, Kyle and Sam enjoyed singing songs and still managed to get most of the candy on to their houses vs. their mouths.
Sam loves friends and doesn't really have many that are close. He sometimes has a hard time knowing how to be a friend because he's so use to his independent style, but he's pretty good at sharing and he loves each child and fosters a special relationship with each one. It makes us happy that he values each person in his life and often takes time to care about what they are up too or how they are feeling. I have yet to meet another child that cares as much about their friends as Sam does. This gives us hope that Sam will grow in to a caring, generous and understanding individual. He has his moments, but who doesn't. Heck adults have their moments and often are whiny, unapproachable and selfish. Most of our close friends live far away from us. All his cousins his age live in other places, living in Germany, Minnesota, Norway, North Carolina, Florida and California. He has found a special cousin/friendship with Degn who is much older than him and he is infatuated with his new little cousin Danika. They met for the first time in the beginning of December and ever since he's prayed and bugged us to buy a baby like her. When he held her (which I hoped we would have gotten a photograph..darn!) he said she smelled sweet and had a velvet head. So sweet! We're convinced we'll have to make him a friend in order for him to truly feel like he has a playmate. He went to primary today and seemed to be excited about that. I hope he fosters some great friendships and recognizes all the many different styles of being a friend.
Sam and Degn at Uncle Steve and Aunt Connie's House. Degn greeted our car as we pulled up and as soon as Sam jumped out of the car, they had stick swords and were best buddies all night long. It's nice to have Jenn and Levi and the kids back living in Utah. They recently moved from Montana and no doubt miss it very much, but we're glad they are here for as long as we have them. Sam and Degn I hope will enjoy each other and play like boys play...rough, rowdy and loudly together for a long while. Thanks Aunt Connie and Uncle Steve for the amazing dinner with everyone. It was a very special night.
